What is a study group?

Study groups are meetings to facilitate interactions between theoretical and life scientists. Similar gatherings have been set up to promote collaborations between Mathematics and Industry and Mathematics and Medicine.

Researchers are invited to present a problem based in plant science which will be analysed by leading theoretical academics during sessions of the study group. Problems can be from any area of plant science but need to be amenable to mathematical modelling and analysis. During the 4 days, those present will scratch their heads and brainstorm for possible solutions to the problems. Progress made on each problem will be presented on the last day and full reports will be submitted after the meeting.

It is hoped that links will be established between the theoretical and plant scientists attending the meeting so that problems discussed during the study group can be followed up in more detail.
